Week of October 29-November 2

Good Morning Patterson Lions!

Just a few quick announcements for this week...

Halloween & Parade
Students are encouraged to come in their costumes and wear them all day. Please no masks, blood or weapons. We will be having a Halloween Parade at 11:10am. All students will participate in the parade. We hope parents will be able to join us!

Make Up Picture Day
Our make up picture day is Tuesday, October 30th. Only students who need to have their pictures taken will have that opportunity. So if your child needs a picture retake, please let their teacher know.

PTA Meeting
We will have a PTA Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 30th at 4:30pm in the library. If you are interested in learning more about PTA and how you can help out our Patterson students, please come!

Attendance Challenge Starts
Beginning November 1st for the entire month of November, we will be having an attendance challenge with the rest of the district. Students will receive prizes every day that they are at school! Grand prize will be silly stringing the principal. Classes also have the chance to earn pizza parties, popcorn parties and ice cream parties! Let's do this, Patterson! Let's raise attendance! Our goal is 96.5% and I know we can do it!

PTA Movie Night
Our PTA is putting on a movie night on Friday, November 2nd from 5:45pm-8pm. We will be showing Boss Baby. Bring your blankets, pjs and family! Food will be for sale. It's sure to be a good time for our students and families!

Parent-Teacher Conferences
As a reminder we will have parent-teacher conferences for two weeks, November 5th-November 16th. EVERY DAY is a minimum day with dismissal at 1:30pm for grades 1st-5th (TK and K will be out at 12:30pm). Please be on time to pick up your child. We cannot hold on to students in the office to wait for your conference. Your child's teacher will reach out to you for a conference. If you have questions about conferences please reach out to your child's teacher.

Drop Off Time
Just as a reminder, students cannot be on campus without parent supervision until after 8am. We do not provide supervision until 8am. Thank you for your cooperation as this is imperative to keep our students safe!

Attendance Update
Our attendance rate has dropped recently. I know that if we are in this together, we can get our attendance rate back up! Remember, our goal is 96.5%.

Breakdown by grade:
TK: 89.4%
K: 94.4%
1st: 94.4%
2nd: 95.8%
3rd: 95.1%
4th: 95.1%
5th: 95.3%
Total: 94.7%

Please send your children to school on time every day. Our students miss out on important lessons and instruction when they are not in school. Help us help your child succeed by sending them to school every day. Success starts by showing up!

We hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for a new week! Go Lions!

Week of October 8th-12th

Hello Patterson Families. We hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Here are a few updates for the week.

Although Monday is Columbus Day, we do have school. It is not a school holiday for us, so please send your child to school on Monday.

Wednesday, October 10th is our first family night of the year. Please join us as we will have community resource vendors, mobile fingerprinting, Brickspace for students and families to play, build and create, teacher run activities/games and snacks to enjoy. Family Night will begin at 6pm and goes until 7:30pm. If you plan on doing the mobile fingerprinting you will need to bring your clear TB test results and your photo id. Fingerprinting is free for parents or guardians. All visitors and volunteers need to be fingerprint cleared to help in the classroom, attend field trips or volunteer on campus. Please come and complete the fingerprinting first, as they will leave if no one is there to get fingerprinted.

Our next PTA meeting is Wednesday, October 17th at 4:30pm in the library. We will be planning out events for the year so we hope you can join us. Without help from parents we cannot organize events like the Book Fair, Family Movie Night or our fun Color Run. So please come to our PTA meeting and find out about all the fun things we are doing, and let us know if you are able to help in any way.

Our attendance goal is 96.5% this year. This is a district wide goal. So far we are at 95% school wide, so we still have room to grow. Please remember that every day missed is missed instruction for our students. Lost instruction is very hard to make up. So please send your children to school on time every day unless they are truly sick.

A school newsletter will be coming home next week with your child. In this newsletter it lays out what are excused absences as allowed by law in the California Education Code. If you have any questions, please let our office know.

If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out! We want to hear from you!

Week of May 7th-11th

Good Morning Patterson Lions!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and is ready to come back bright and early tomorrow morning!

Teacher Appreciation Week
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Let’s show our teachers how much we love them this week and shower them with kindness.

5th Grade Middle School Transition Meeting
Franklin Middle school staff will be coming by on Monday to visit with our 5th graders to talk about the transition to middle school. This is always a fun and sad time as our 5th graders get ready to leave us for the next phase of their education.

Our attendance challenge starts on Monday, May 7th. Any class that has 95% attendance or higher each week will earn a Popsicle or ice cream sandwich party. And the class with the highest attendance at the end of the month will earn the privilege to throw color dye at me! Let’s get our attendance up and finish the school year strong!

Color Run
Our PTA sponsored Color Run is on Saturday, May 19th. T-shirt orders were due Friday, however, we will still accept them on Monday if you are wanting to purchase one. They are $10. The Color Run will be a fun family friendly event where our students and their families can come out and enjoy the day and have some fun! Food and color dye will be for sale. Admission to the run itself is free, so come on down!

School Uniform Survey
This coming week in your child’s backpack a survey will be coming home about whether or not we want to continue being a uniform school. I am soliciting feedback from families before making a decision for the next school year, so please be on the lookout for that so we can hear your thoughts!

Here to Help!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please call the office, or stop by to see us. We are happy to help out in whatever way we can.

Let's make it a great week! :)

Week of April 9th-13th

Welcome back, Patterson Lions! We have 9 weeks left of our 2017-2018 school year. These last 9 weeks of school are just as important as the rest of the weeks of the school year. Our teachers will continue teaching our wonderful students every day up until the last day of school, so its important that we continue coming to school every day.

Here are the upcoming important events and information  for the week!

Attendance Challenge Outcome: We ended our attendance challenge at 91.46%, which is about 3.5% shy of our attendance goal of 95%. Unfortunately, Dan Mini beat us out for the win with 92.3% attendance for the month of March. However, we did beat out Highland, Glen Cove and Lincoln, which we should be proud of! So although I won't be dyeing my hair HOT PINK, I will get pied in the face by one of our 5th grade classes! Mr. Cornejo's 5th grade class won our school attendance challenge with the best attendance rate during the month of March at 97.2%! They will have the opportunity to  pie Mrs. De La Mater in the face at 2pm on Monday, April 9th on the basketball courts. If you are around, and want to see the excitement, please join us!

CAASPP  Testing: Our 3rd-5th grade students will be begin the SBAC online state test for ELA and Math on Monday, April 16th. They will be testing over the course of about 4 weeks. During this time we want our students to focus on trying their best! Make sure your student gets a good nights sleep, eats a nutritious breakfast and comes to school every day they are scheduled to test! If you have any questions about when your child will  be testing, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Important Dates;
Monday, April 9th: School Site Council & ELAC 3:30pm Library
Friday, April 27th: Progress Reports Come Home (if the teacher has concerns about your child, a progress report will come home)

We are so excited to see our students Monday morning! We have MISSED them!
